Homeschool Happiness ...

I am super excited to start our Country FarmHouse Firm Foundations HomeSchool Classes this year. For weeks now, I've been looking at curriculum, planning and organizing -- still lots to do but having a direction and purpose is the first step.

One of the Greatest Blessings we can offer to the world is the Power of a Christ-centered Home where the Gospel is taught, Covenants are kept and LOVE abounds. ~Richard G. Scott

When God first led me to homeschool, I fought Him every step of the way. "This isn't for me" "I can NOT do this" "Are you kidding, she (my daughter and student) is special needs" "Nope, no way, not happening". Well, we all know what happens when we say "NO" to God. Right??!! He has a WAY of making it all work out according to His WILL. I'll be honest and tell you that first year was a struggle -- I learn things one way; my daughter, on the other hand, learns things differently. UGH!

Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 (NASB)

This year I have noticed changes --- changes that I honestly didn't think would ever happen. We have changed our eating habits. What does this have to do with our homeschool classes? I made some simple, unnoticeable (to the family) changes at first --- introducing non-processed foods. And slowly, over time, started to see differences in our youngest daughter (aka our student). She was retaining more and more information --- things I had been teaching her for years finally "caught on". So I started changing our eating habits even more --- taking away the processed foods (they are almost non-existent in our home now, but that's another post), entering more natural, even organic, foods (trying to stay away from all the GMO's) AND what happened next? We started having conversations --- real conversations --- conversations that I wouldn't have dreamed of happening are now happening.

Obviously, this isn't an official study, just my own little study. But I am EXCITED --- excited beyond belief. God is answering our prayers and this year during our homeschool classes, I am going to try to re-enter some of those things that I had taken "off the table", things I didn't think she could (would ever) comprehend. I am not going to say this process will be easy and it may or may not "click" but to me, it's well worth the trying again.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. ~Thomas Edison

I am working this year at trying to blog / write more, give frequent updates, etc. I cannot promise a daily blog post, but I do promise to keep you updated throughout the planning of our homeschool classes and our progress.
