Is this how Moses felt .... ???
Upon awakening this morning, I had a sense of urgency to pray ... to pray for our nation. As I was praying, I starting thinking about God's Word - makes you wonder if this is how Moses felt ....
Yesterday, the American people spoke. That doesn't mean that I agree with them but I am not here to judge or speak harshly of anyone, including the president of the United States. According to the Bible, we are to "Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good." Titus 3:1 (NLT). Of course, we are to obey God above all authority, "But Peter and the apostles replied, 'We must obey God rather any human authority.'" Acts 5:29 (NLT). And most importantly, we are NOT to judge others. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD. Romans 12:19 (NLT).
America started as "one nation under God". George Washington once said, "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible." But in all honesty, it seems that lately we have taken God out of everything - our schools, the National Day of Prayer, non-religious Christmas trees (at the White House) and the list goes on and on. Anyone who follows any kind of news, can confirm that statement. As we take God out of more and more of our nation, it can make one wonder "Is this how Moses felt?"
Imagine this: Moses is on Mount Sinai with the Lord (Exodus 31) and all of sudden, God tells Moses that he must leave now because the people that God had worked so hard to save were being corrupt. (Exodus 32:7). Those people, that God had saved from slavery and destruction, decided to worship an idol, not the Lord their God. (Exodus 32). Can you imagine what Moses was feeling as he saw this "worship" service taking place??
We, NOT all of us, but as a nation, have become corrupt. We worship things - money, houses, cars, other people, etc. We think we can do "as we please" without consequence. All you have to do is follow any social media vendor or read a news segment to witness this corruption - it's all around us. Even in the Bible, Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV)
Some will say that all of these happenings are based on the end of time. And while that may be true, it might also just be the beginning - the beginning of Christian suffering and persecution. The questions may not be answered - in our time or maybe not until the end of time - but the Lord our God promises in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Romans 8:28 is one promise that I have stated over and over again, especially after the death of my son. It states, "And we know that in all things God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good—with those who have been called according to his purpose."
Yesterday as I voted, I did it with a clear conscience; knowing that the only person I truly have to answer to is God at the end of time.
And on a personal note: Unfortunately, this election has caused much ugliness and hatred among friends, colleagues and even family members. My hope is that now the election is over, we can pick up the pieces and begin to move forward knowing that God has the ultimate control.

THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how much your post means to me this morning. I awoke, lost, in tears, not wanting to turn on the TV nor the radio, I turned to Facebook and my friends there hoping to escape. Instead, you've rescued me. I didn't know where to turn and realized I should have turned to my Bible. I can't thank you - and Lori Homeyer enough for reminding me there IS a direction to follow. <3

It has been a painful, though needful season of remembering that our Kingdom is not of this world. We can steward with noble intent, but at the end of the day we are still not of this world.
