Troubles, Opinions and Truths
Why do Troubling Things seem to Happen to Good People?? And why is it when these things to happen, every one seems to have an opinion??
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 (NIV) * Notice this verse doesn't say ... some of us, that person who stole a car or that person who swears ... it says ALL. ALL people have sinned; it doesn't matter if you think it's a little sin or a BIG sin - a sin is a sin. Remember that little white lie you told last week when asked if an outfit looked okay on someone or maybe you committed a really bad sin (at least in your mind, it's the worst sin ever). Guess what?? It's still a sin.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT) * Maybe we are waiting on an answer from Him and He doesn't seem to be listening to us. Maybe during that time of "waiting", He is developing our patience. God knows exactly what we need and when we need it - He is ALWAYS with us; doing what is best for us.
Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the dirt. They kept at him, badgering him. He straightened up and said, "The sinless one among you, go first: Throw the stone." Bending down again, he wrote some more in the dirt. John 8:6-8 (MSG) * How many times have we heard (through the gossip grapevine), did you hear about so and so? What would have caused him/her to do that? That is the most horrific sin ever (it could really be something trivial but we all remember that game - telephone tag). I don't know about you, but I personally wouldn't want to be THAT person - the one making a judgment call.
Troubles and Trials happen to each one of us - sometimes it seems like a small trial and other times, it can be the biggest trial that you have ever had to overcome. Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV). As a Christian, we will have troubles and trials but we also have the Power to overcome them.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 (NIV) * With God's strength, we CAN get through the trials and troubles in life and we WILL. Keep moving forward, no matter how hard this trial you are going through seems. And remember, make no judgments about others troubles. Unless you have walked in their shoes, there are always three sides to the story - his truth, her truth and the WHOLE truth.
